The Women Empowerment Group (WEG) has launched a transformational skill acquisition training program for women and youth in Karaye Local Government Area of Kebbi State. This initiative is designed to equip participants with practical skills that can help them earn sustainable income, support their families, and contribute to community development.
The training program focuses on several key vocational areas, including tailoring, soap-making, bead-making, catering, and small-scale business management. Each participant receives hands-on training from experienced instructors who guide them step-by-step until they can confidently practice the skills on their own.
Beyond technical training, the program also teaches important lessons in entrepreneurship—such as pricing, record-keeping, branding, and customer relations. This ensures that participants are not only skilled but also prepared to run their businesses successfully.
Many women in Karaye LGA face challenges such as limited job opportunities, financial constraints, and lack of access to formal education. The WEG training program provides a practical solution by giving them skills they can use immediately to create income. Several beneficiaries have already started producing items like soap, snacks, and clothing for sale within their communities.
Community leaders in Karaye praised the initiative, noting that empowering women strengthens families and boosts local economic growth. By the end of the training cycle, participants also receive starter kits to help them begin their businesses without delay.
The Skill Acquisition Training by WEG Group is more than just a workshop—it is a movement to uplift women, unlock their potential, and build a stronger, more self-reliant Karaye LGA in Kebbi State. The success of this project continues to inspire hope and confidence across the community.
